About
I’m an interdisciplinary researcher, educator, and writer working across environmental history, geography, political ecology, blue humanities, and critical ocean studies. I earned my PhD in Geography at the University of Cambridge as a Gates Cambridge Scholar. I’m an Assistant Professor of Marine Studies at Oregon State University.

My research, teaching, and community engagement interests center around past, present, and future relationships between nature, environment, and society. The core aim of my work is to contribute to shaping more socially just and ecologically resilient futures. I am working on my first book project, which examines narratives, histories, and justice issues circulating around the migration and conservation of gray whales along the North American Pacific Coast. I’m also a member of the inaugural editorial team for the H-Oceans network.
